A big question I get asked a lot is “How do you stay so organized?” Or, “your house is decorated so cute, how do you do it?” My answer? Clutter drives me crazy and I don’t want to always buy new stuff. So, I either repurpose the old stuff in a different room/space or with a 25% discount, I use my business products to organize the stuff and it looks super cute! Win-win! I’ve been able to organize most of the rooms in my house incorporating our products and, when friends and family come by, they tend to want theirs like mine and place an order!
My organizational habits and systems are pretty easy. They just take a bit of discipline, or OCD (whichever you prefer). The first hard and fast rule I use is, *If I bring something INTO the house, something else needs to GO!* Now, you are going to say, Yea right, who has time to do that every single time? But here’s an example. I don’t buy clothing for myself on a regular basis, but when I do, I get some serious retail therapy! What that means is I’ll come home with a new shirt and pair of shoes (or 3). So, a shirt that I don’t love on me anymore & pair of old pants, shoes (gasp!) will have to go.
Now, in theory this works. One way to make SURE it does is to have a cute place or “bag” to put these soon-to-be donated products. Chuck the old shirt, pants or the old shoes (assuming you can let go of those adorable brown heels that you know you will wear this summer...) into the Large Utility Tote and it’s DONE! How did I find this career that I love? My husband John and I moved from Bloomington, IN where we both grew up, to Evansville, IN in 2002 after he was offered an amazing career with Toyota. After starting a family, we agreed that I was meant to be at home with the babies. All. Day. Long. With 3 girls. While he worked night-shift. Yeah, you're feelin' me. After doing that for 7 years (and about to lose my mind), I looked for an outlet that wouldn’t cost me money because trips to Walmart for "fun" just weren't cutting it anymore. I found Thirty-One when I needed it the most. I could finally have girl time at parties, out of my house a few nights a month, spend other peoples’ money & get my house organized at a discount! Woo hoo, sign me up!
So, as of January 2010, I am a work-at-home mom to 3 amazing girls, ages 12, 9, & 7 who keep me very busy. Direct sales gives me the flexibility to work in and out of my home and be able to attend their activities without worrying if I can schedule that day off or not. I also love that we can AFFORD those things with the extra income I earn at parties! Parties!!! I party and organize people as my career. How awesome is that?!
